Each summer students are encouraged to get internship experience to develop their skills and build their resumes. The Warsaw Sports Marketing Center has a tradition of internship positions at numerous leading sports companies, including ESPN, Wasserman, Portland Trail Blazers, Nike, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco Giants, adidas, the NBA, and more. Students must secure their own internships but are supported in doing so by the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, the Lundquist College of Business’s Career Services Office, and program alumni.
Undergraduate business students have the opportunity to join domestic and international study tours. Portland and Boston are regular domestic stops. In past visits to Portland stops have been made at Nike, adidas, Wieden & Kennedy, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Portland Timbers, On Running, IDL Worldwide, and more. In Boston, students have visited The Boston Celtics, New Balance, Fenway Sports Management, the Boston Athletic Association, the New England Revolution, Major League Lacrosse, and more.
Gain insight, experiences, and opportunities in the field of sports business by joining the Warsaw Sports Business Club. It’s open to all UO undergraduate students and gives students access to sports industry guest speakers, study tours, experiential learning, networking, student-run events, and other special events. The WSBC is a student affiliation club with an elected student executive board, and mentored by Josh Gordon giving students various leadership opportunities. Meetings are held biweekly, and it’s just $75 for a one year membership.
The Warsaw Sports Marketing Center has an award-winning team educators and prominent industry specialists. They motivate and illuminate their students with a dynamic mixture of grounded theory and real-world application. Quoted in the media and respected in academia, as well as throughout the sports industry—Warsaw Center faculty members lead the way in their respective fields of sports marketing, sports finance, corporate sponsorship, and more.
Each year numerous industry leaders come to campus to share their insights with our students in workshops and lectures, via a center's speaker series. Past speakers have come from CBS Sports, EA Sports, Gatorade, Major League Baseball, Pac12, WNBA, Visa International, Nike, the NFL, US Soccer Federation, and more.
